History of Nanaimo’s go-to Liquor store
Greenrock Liquor Store’s long and proud history began way back in 1983, at the Windward Pub in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Our family pulled together to raise the startup funding we needed to open, and within a short time we had a comfortable ambiance, and mouth watering food and drink program, and a loyal clientele. With our excellent location, the pub was a success and in 1990 we decided to open a liquor store in Nanaimo, again with the help of our loving and committed families who have always supported us in our goals.
In 2015, the next phase was ready to move forward: from the first moment the ideas started swirling around in Dean’s head, the Greenrock Liquor Store was conceived as an environmentally-friendly building that would be energy efficient, and employ modern, sustainable technologies like bioswale stormwater management, native plant landscaping, and eco-friendly cleaning products.
Today, Greenrock Liquor Store is a team of more than a dozen staff members trained in a variety of areas of expertise including WSET and Cicerone. With over 2700 products in our system and new, exciting items added every day, we emphasize locally-made craft items, VQA, and Vancouver Island wineries, distilleries, ciders, and breweries.
